Despite its contemporary skyline filled with high-rises, remnants of history remain, particularly in the charming Delfshaven district and the historic Oudehaven, as seen in the image below.
So, Rotterdam is a modern city, which means there is plenty of impressive contemporary architecture. You’ll find several museums and many fun things to do. It’s also a great place to visit with kids. There is a beautiful zoo, and a harbour tour is awe-inspiring.
Additionally, Rotterdam serves as a great base to explore the rest of the Netherlands, thanks to its excellent transport connections. Spending a night or two in Rotterdam before continuing your journey can be a great option. We personally love Hotel New York.
